Anam Cara CD Released!
Anam Cara, the new 20 voice professional choir under the
direction of James Jordan has had its first CD released
by the new label, GIA Choralworks. The choir will record
a second CD this summer-The Choral Works of Gerald Custer-
to be released on the same label late this fall.
Two New DVD Projects
A new DVD to partner with Dr. Jordan's new text, The Choral
Rehearsal, will be released by July 1 through GIA. The focus
of this DVD will be upon conducting technique affects the
sound of the ensemble. Also on the DVD will be a portion
devoted to accompanying techniques explained by marilyn
Shenenberger. A new Conducting Technique DVD is being taped
this summer, and will focus upon an innovative new format
for teaching conducting technique. The DVD will detail fundamental
conducting technique for both instrumentalists and choral
conductors. The instrumental portion of the DVD will feature
conductor Eugene Corporon of the University at North Texas.
Inward Bound Text Completed
The second volume of the set begun with The Choral Rehearsal
has been completed. Titled Inward Bound, this book surveys
major analytical techniques conductors should use as they
prepare for rehearsal. Analysis techniques include Hillis
Score Colorization, Laban Movement Score Analysis,Haasemann
Vocal Analyses, and Modal Solfege Analysis. Unique to the
volume are a detailed guide to Herford Score Analysis by
Tony Thronton, and sections relating to thje Analysis and
Performance of Renaissance Music by Gerald Custer. This
book will be avalable in early fall.
Evoking Sound: Fundamentals
of Choral Conducting
Dr. Jordan is working on the Second Edition revision of
this popular conducting text. The second edition will include
material on the use of Saito Conducting Technique, and also
include a workbook for use in Conducting classes.
Announcing the Music from
Westminster Choral Series
The Evoking Sound Series and GIA are proud to announce the
institution of the MUSIC FROM WESTMINSTER choral series
edited by Dr. Joe Miller. The first two pieces, Blake Henson's,
My Flight to Heaven and Gerald Custer's Balalulalow are
scheduled for publication release by July 1....
